FAQs About Darwin Tours

The best time of year to go on a Darwin tour is May to October. This is considered peak season, as it generally has dry, sunny weather.

Darwin has a monsoon climate with a wet season running from November to April bringing humidity, heavy rainfall and warmer temperatures. During this season thunderstorms and occasional cyclones can occur.

We recommend spending at least a week in Darwin, this will give you enough time to see the highlights of the city and to visit the surrounding areas like Kakadu and Litchfield National Park.

There are plenty of activities to do whilst visiting Darwin. Our top recommendations are doing a day trip to Kakadu and Litchfield National Park to fully experience authentic Australia and see some animals in the wild.

To get to Darwin, you can get here by driving yourself, by the Greyhound bus or by flying into the Darwin Airport.

There are plenty of free things to do in the city. You can enjoy a scenic walk along the Darwin Waterfront, watch the sunrise at Mindil Beach or go explore the Darwin Botanic Gardens. If you have your own transport there are plenty of hikes and national parks to explore.

Whilst day trips provide a glimpse of the highlights of Kakadu National Park, overnight tours allow for an in depth exploration of its cultural sites, landscapes and wildlife. Overnight stays also provide sunrise and sunset experiences, where you are most likely to see wild animals.

You should book your tour to Kakadu National Park weeks in advance, especially during the peak season (May to October) when tours tend to fill up quickly.
