Looking for a campervan
SPECIAL - up to 10% east coast packages and campervan's
The first thing to do when planning any sort of travelling in Australia & New Zealand is to confirm on the destination of travel (east coast, west coast, new zealand etc) look at the sort of trip that you and your friends want, whether it be to relax, party, sightseeing etc.
If you want some help deciding, you can always ask the advice of our friendly travel agents – trips can be tailored to your specific needs.
Next is your travel dates –Â confirm them with everyone in the group – this is important as it’s difficult to look at prices/availability if you don’t know when you want to start and finish your trip.
Budget – you should have an idea of how much you are happy to spend all in, this helps when getting prices for things along the east coast, we recommend planning transport, tours and hostels etc first so that you can see how much money will be left over for food & drinks.
Typically you will spend about $50-$100 for food and drink, but will be less if you don’t spend all your money on eating out (hostel meal prepping can be a great way to save money) and also pre drinking before hitting the town.
Finally you should decide on if you want to do a self guided or group tour!! Both are great, but very different – most of the activities are the same, however the experience is different – speak to one of our agents to learn more about the differences and which is best for you!
Self guided tours are the most popular way to travel, they are usually cheaper and offer more flexibility and freedom! Group tours are a great way to travel if you are a bit anxious about travelling! However if using a travel agent (Travel Hub) we make it super easy to follow and a stress free journey!
After you have decided the above, it’s important to decide how you want to get from A to B – this will impact the route and cost of your trip. Travel agents will help show you the differences between the both, to see which will be best suited and cost effective for you.
Campervan –
Campervan can be one of the best ways to travel in Australia & New Zealand. Campervans give you the ultimate freedom when backpacking, go at your own pace and no need to worry about buses or planning too much – remember a campervan is transport AND accommodation, so very little planning needed after that (we just recommend just your overnight Whitsundays/Fraser)
The cheapest time to book your campervan was yesterday!! The prices creep up day by day. Booking a van in advance means you get the best possible price and will have more vans available to choose from. Click here to see the prices of campervans
Hop on hop off Buses & hostels/hotels –
Getting a hop on hop off bus can be the easiest way to travel along places like the East Coast of Australia, most backpackers will use the greyhound bus pass & then they can choose to stay in the hostel of their choice!
This is a much more sociable way to travel as staying in hostels will allow you to meet fellow travellers and enjoy the amazing hostels Australia and New Zealand has to offer.
Instead of buying single bus tickets, Greyhound offers bus passes which means you can book as many buses as you like (within the amount of time you select) . If you’re unsure of how many days, we advise you to over estimate as it’s cheaper than extending your pass once you have already paid for it.
Car Rental
A car can be a fun way to travel the coast, especially if you’re travelling with friends or family. You can often get well priced cars, but it depends on the time of year and how far in advance you book. Just remember unless you plan to sleep in the car, you will have to also book hostels or hotels making it more expensive. Have a look at car prices here
Sometimes getting a small campervan can be a similar price to a car, which could potentially save you money as with a car you’ll most likely need to spend more on accommodation.
Flights
Australia is MASSIVE – flights are a great way to get around Australia, especially when you are looking to change states and you don’t fancy getting those overnight buses etc – Kiwi.com is a great way to compare cheap flights around Australia – they seem to find deals that other companies can’t!

Planning and booking trips has never been easier – booking with our agency Travel Hub is so easy – not only will we help you plan and book, but it also costs the same as booking it yourself (if not cheaper!!)
Travel Hub $0 service fee and we beat any price guarantee is unbeatable – so get in touch and start planning!!
How does a travel hub charge $0 service fee – this is a question we get asked a lot, let’s say a Whitsundays trip costs $599 booking direct on their website – well booking with TH will cost the same. Basically the suppliers send our employees out on these trips so that we can experience them and recommend them to our customers – and as a thank you, suppliers will give us a small % of the $599 Whitsundays trip we booked for you!
It’s great for both parties, as we as an agency can recommend all trips to customers & can just let the customers pick exactly what they want and at no extra cost for them to book with us.
All you need to do is get in touch with us in regards to your travel plans, regardless if you’re at the beginning stage, ready to book or just want the security of using an agent – Travel Hub can book and help with anything Australia/New Zealand related.
We understand that booking tours & packages to a country you have never been to before can be stressful, we take the stress out of everything! Before booking, we will run through all the information you need to know, you can make unlimited changes and we plan the trip together until you’re happy!
We beat any price – get in touch here if you find something cheaper elsewhere online and we can beat the price!!
Our Tip
Our tip is to book everything in advance, availability is always the toughest part of booking trips, as one minute its available, the next its gone – Australia is so popular regardless of where you’re travelling, sometimes if there’s things you know you definitely want to do its worth booking it in stages, until you figure out the other parts you’re not sure of! This confirms the items you know you definitely want to do – whilst securing the price (the cheapest time to book was yesterday)
FAQS – Can I create my own personalised trip?
Yes you can, if you’re looking to do the east coast then use our free east coast builder – otherwise get in touch with one of our friendly staff and we can help you with your personalized trip 🙂
Can I book outside of the country? Yes of course – this is actually recommended, especially if you’re looking to travel first – this will ensure you can do all your bucket list items whilst getting the best possible price!
