Australia Zoo

Steve and Terri Irwin’s vision has always been to make Australia Zoo the biggest and best wildlife conservation facility in the world. There is no zoo like Australia Zoo!

Australia Zoo, one hour north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast, was made famous by the Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. With over 110-acres, the zoo is the most interactive conservation destination on the planet where you can get up close to animals including koalas, wombats, and kangaroos! Watch a saltwater crocodile strike from the water’s edge in the daily Wildlife Warriors show, and explore the world’s busiest Wildlife Hospital, where you can watch vets saving endangered Australian animals.

FAQs About Kuranda Tour

Australia Zoo is located in Queensland, Beerwah and is accessible via the public transport from most major train stations. Most visitors of the zoo will depart from Brisbane and make a day trip up to the zoo.

Steve Irwin’s parents actually started what was once referred to as the ‘Beerwah Reptile Park’ which was smaller than it has become. In 1998 following their passion both Steve and Bindi renamed it to Australia zoo to create a legacy for their family, expanding the small park to the popular destination it is today. Steve Irwin designed a lot of the habitats at the museum to educate visitors on the animals as well as through his TV shows.

You’ll encounter a wide range of Australian wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, dingoes, cassowaries, and the only Tasmanian Devils in North Queensland. There are also opportunities to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies.

Absolutely, the croc feeding is included with the admission of the zoo, they have multiple shows throughout the day incase you is one. Our recommendation would be to get to the ‘Crocoseum’ early so you can save yourself a good seat.

There are many options to eat at Australia zoo, such as; The ‘Crickey Cafe’ that has foods like, burgers, pizzas, sushi and more. You could eat at ‘Red Panda Dumpling House’ which has more asian cuisine. If you fancy something more luxurious you can go to the ‘Warrior Restaurant and bar’ that uses local ingredients for its recipes

To get to Australia zoo you can either take public transport to Beerwah station and then get the free shuttle bus to the zoo or you can drive straight there yourself.

Both of Steve Irwins kids, Robert and Bindi do regular appearances at the park as well as Terri, Steve’s wife and Chandler, Bindi’s husband. They will walk around and stop for pictures as well as present the crocodile feeding at the ‘Crocoseum’ in the same way Steve Irwin did.
